A thing kind of happened...

I have been single for 6 years.  Yes, it has been hard but somewhere down the line you learn to accept it and life moves on.  You realize you have the freedom to make choices you  might not otherwise have been able to do...like move.  When 2019 was winding down I was planning to move away from Florence to parts unknown (well, I did know but you know what I mean!) and then God snuck a little wrinkle in my plan.

A friend I had known for several years through Rotary (who says Rotary Club isn't fun?) and I started hanging out.  We were literally just hanging out, because you know...I didn't want to get involved since it was only a few months until I moved away.  And them BAM, it happen, we were in a relationship...we even had the DTR talk and everything.  So move along a few weeks (yep, weeks) and I had one of the worst days as work...as in...it it stunk it up.  When I came home I peeled off my work clothes and switched into leggings and probably my oldest sweatshirt (I was a vision) and went to my sweet man's house.  I walked out into the field where he was walking his dogs and we down-loaded about work and headed back to his house.  When I walked in there was a gorgeous, huge bouquet of perfectly pink flowers and he told me they were for my "special day."  Special Day?  I leaned over to smell those wonderful flowers and turned around and there he was holding a box with a sparkly ring and asking me to marry him.  I was in awe...this handsome man who is so full of sweetness, love, fun, laughter, honesty, and integrity was asking me...YES ME, to marry him! No one has ever surprised me more. Of course, I had to say yes...it was love.
Oh, and that box does have a light in it...to be continued.

Prom 2017

I can't believe it, but I find myself seeing another child (this time the baby boy) off to the prom.  This one was unexpected as he is only a Freshman...but that whole social structure of High School these days is different than "back in the day."  It does make me think of Proms when I was in High School and how much fun we had. It makes me miss friends that have passed and those I haven't see in years and the carefree (although when you are the teenager it doesn't feel like that) world we lived in.  Why, oh why, does growing up come so fast?  And mostly, why couldn't we just enjoy every special, simple moment rather than always trying to push harder and faster to being "older."
 Adulting is a racket!
He was heading out to get his pretty little date!
How can he be this old?
They went as a group with some life long friends.
I know it will be a fun night to remember!

I hope they have a blast.
The evening started with dinner and is supposed to end with
bowling so I really hope this is just the first of many
great High School Memories for my sweet young man.

Fireproof

Have you seen it? During our date night last Saturday, DH and I and went to a rare movie (rare in that we rarely ever go to the theatre due to not many offerings interest us enough to pay upwards of $10 a ticket to see and rare in that this was a wonderful, Christian movie that was rooted in the reality of so many families today - Christian or not).

Marriage is hard. Whether a couple has big issues or small issues...marriage is hard. This movie focuses on the condition of the heart of each individual in a marriage and how THAT element plays such a huge part of the success or failure of a marriage. Now, don't get me wrong, this wasn't some sappy, romantic movie...it was deep and "uncomfortable" in lots of ways but that is balanced with a good dose of humor and I definately think both men and women will enjoy it.
http://www.fireproofthemovie.com/ I want to go back and see it again just to absorb some of the things I missed the 1st go round and it will definately be added to our video collection.

Go see it...for your marriage or just for yourself.

1st "date"

In this season of "1sts" a young man came calling this evening. He knocked on our door bearing flowers and asking to take my DD out to a dance. This is the 1st time we've officially let her go on a date (other dances we have been at as chaperones...tonight it is without us). When this young man came in, DH sat him down and had a talk with him, and we allowed her to go...

Wasn't she lovely?
