I must have spoken too soon!

Yes, almost as soon as I posted yesterday about how well DS2 was doing I got a call from the school.  He was dizzy, with blurred vision, severe headache and shaking.  Of course, I was at the school in about 5 minutes flat. Fortunately, this was nothing like the previous episode as he was aware and responding all throughout and had no breathing issues.  I called our Dr. and was told to take him to the Emergency Room.  So, off we went for an unexpected Friday Afternoon Adventure (not one I would really recommend.)

By the time our Dr. was able to get to the ER to meet us, DS2 was feeling better and all tests looked fine. There is no definative way to know what was going one with DS2 during the actual episode, and it is possible it was a partial seizure but the Dr. is not sure. They are hesitant to give him anything medicine wise right now for fear it might mask what ever perplexing problem we are dealing with.  So, the positive to come out of it...apparently we will be getting a much quicker appointment with the specialist now.  The saga continues....

  1. Wow, I'm so sorry to hear about that. I'm glad it wasn't as bad as the last episode, but maybe they can figure out what's going on to cause them. Still, it sounds like you're doing a great job of taking care of him and not being too careful, which is a good idea.

Let me know if you guys need anything *hugs*.

  2. Oh I am so sorry to hear that! I know that feeling of fear and helplessness. My dog (who is my only baby) has seizures and it is just heartwrenching. I am so glad he was OK and it was less severe. I'm sure they have tested this as you seem to have had every test in the book by now, but I would be a bad blog friend if I didn't mention. Have they tested his blood sugar levels? For dogs anyway, that is still in the "just a theory" category. And I admit that I have no idea if there is a relation to dogs and humans. I am not even a big fan of ER type TV shows- ha. But my opinion is that all proof starts out as a theory or idea at some point and it's worth doing a little research on my part. Again, I know I am refrencing a dog. But it's my only personal experience so I wanted to offer up my two cents anyway.

    Keeping y'all in my thoughts!

PS. You would not believe that we still have NO SNOW up here. Not a single flake has stuck to the ground. So strange!

  4. Well, the one positive is that it reoccurred to let you know that there is indeed a problem, but it wasn't as bad as the first one. Hopefully this will help you get in to the doctor AND point you all in the right direction to diagnose the issue. Keeping you all in my prayers!

  5. I hate that that happened! I just pray that you will soon find out what is causing these "episodes"! It can be so frustrating as a parent to not be able to make our babies better!

  7. Sweet Bella,

This must be a frightening and frustrating time for you. I'm praying for calm within this storm and answers at your appointment.

It's good to know your son is surrounded by fast-acting teachers & that you were able to get to him so quickly. I know it must have given him relief knowing you were there for him!

We'll continue to lift you all up in prayer as long as you need it!

    Thinking of you sweet friend...

    Warmly,

    Elizabeth

  10. Oh man, I am so very sorry to hear about this. I recently found your blog but didn't want to intrude in the comments during your difficulties.

However, I did want to share that I've been praying for all of you and will continue to do so. We've been through plenty of medical drama of our own and the support we've received both online and IRL have been so incredibly heartwarming. My prayers are that you'll experience the same.

  13. Michelle, I usually try not to tell anyone going through a medical emergency equally challenging stories about our family or others I know because it usually just frightens people more. That said...Bruce developed unexplained seizures many years ago. The many many doctors were never able to give us an answer but with proper seizure medication he functions very well.

So even if the doctors can't give you a specific cause I'll pray for healing for your little guy.
