Update on my Little Man

Yesterday we finally got to see a Pediatric Neurologist at MUSC.  They also ran a short EEG.  Fortunately, that EEG showed nothing irregular! The Dr. ordered a longer 72 hour EEG.  I should hear from them sometime next week for scheduling of that test.  DS2 will be able to do it from home rather than stay in the hospital which is GREAT!
What I do know from the results of all the tests DS2 has had is… he is healthy as a horse; for that I am so thankful.    So, we have no definitive diagnosis on what caused the seizures.  I am so relieved that we have found nothing wrong with my sweet little man, but also find it unsettling not to have some concrete reason why.
Why are we so much more comfortable with black and white answers?  I want something that says 2+2=4, not a “we may never know why this happened.”  BUT, that is where faith comes in.  I believe God has His hand on this child of mine.  He is feeling great today and I am going to stand on that!

  2. Well, I too am glad they declared him healthy Michelle. But I agree, I would be unsettled about what caused that episode. Oh the other hand, there have been lots and lots of prayers going up for the little guy. Whose to say that whatever caused it has not been fixed by the ultimate physician!!!

  3. Oh, girl... if ever anyone understood the wanting black & white answers, it would be me. Alas, it's not meant to be, at least not in this world.

Continued prayers for wellness for your little guy and peace for all of y'all.

  4. I'm glad he's okay and healthy, although what happened to him was very scary and really weird that it hasn't been explained. I'd be really scared something like that could happen again, even worse, or when your son wasn't so close to his family or a hospital. I do hope that with the 72 hour EEG, they can figure out what happened and *hopefully* it won't be serious or require treatments or medications. I'm really glad your son is healthy though and able to get on with his life :). Sounds like you guys are doing everything right!

  5. SOOO glad he is doing well! I totally understand wanting an answer though- so frustrating. Here's hoping the 72 hour test brings a little clarity!

  6. Oh praise God for great news! So happy for you & your family! I imagine it is tough to not have a definitive answer to all of your questions. I'd want to know why as well. But this is a great opportunity to stretch our faith, believing that God healed your sweet boy & trusting Him to continue to bless DS2 with good health. What awesome news! :)
